FluidRay RT 0.9.4 adds Light Path Expressions

We just released FluidRay RT 0.9.4! You can get it here.

This version adds a ton of new features:

  • Light Path Expressions – you can now customize render outputs, to generate alpha, diffuse, glossy, etc. here is a more in depth description: Light Path Expressions explained
  • Much cleaner user interface
  • Multiple RenderView tabs
  • Possibility to save the camera
  • Greately increased interactivity and speed
  • Removed a lot of noise from the PathTraceIntegrator

IMPORTANT: to get the new functionalities in the old scenes, please re-create the IntegratorRenderer and PathTraceIntegrator.

FluidRay RT 0.9.1 Released – Less Noise – Better Bidirectional Path Tracing

We are glad to announce the release of FluidRay RT 0.9.1! This release brings a lot of improvements in noise reduction and real-time performance:
– The Bidirectional Path Tracer is now very usable and provides much faster convergence, especially in interior renderings.
– The Path Tracer now produces much less noise
– Fixed a bug in Area lights, causing a lot of noise as well
– Fixed fireflies when using the Sun-Sky environment

Real-time Bidirectional Path Tracing

Just wanted to give you the heads up on what is going on about FluidRay RT development. Lately we have been working hard to add real-time Bidirectional Path Tracing (BDPT). This is a 3d rendering algorithm that is much more efficient in complex lighting situations such as interior renderings. We expect to include the new BDPT integrator in the upcoming release of FluidRay RT. Stay tuned!

FluidRay RT 0.8.2 Released | Rough Glass | Mix Material

We just released FluidRay RT 0.8.2 Beta. This version brings a ton of new features and improvements in both workflow and flexibility:

  • A new Direct Lighting Integrator
  • Graph editor usability improvements
  • Dragging textures to the scene from the library will assign the texture to the corresponding material
  • Zoom extents in the Render view
  • Autofocus on camera
  • Mix scattering and Null scattering types (to combine different material types and to allow alpha transparency on arbitrary materials)
  • More viewing options to improve interactivity on heavy scenes (remember to recreate the renderer and camera nodes in your old scenes)
  • Possibility to choose the number of threads used by the renderer
  • 10-15% speed improvement
  • Rough glass and matte translucent materials
  • Fixed some problems with glass and gems materials
  • Fixed fireflies in the occluded environment material
